How the maths works

Expected loss = stake × bets per hour × hours × house edge. A 4% edge sounds tiny, but it applies to every single spin. At €1 a spin and 500 spins an hour, you stake €500 an hour — and the expected cost is €20 an hour, whatever happens on any one night.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the calculator use turnover rather than deposits?

House edge applies to every bet, including bets placed with winnings you recycle. Turnover — the total amount staked — is what determines the expected long-run loss.

Will I really lose exactly this much?

No — over a short period you might be up or down by much more. But the more you play, the closer your results tend to get to the expected loss. That is how operators can predict their revenue so precisely.

Where do the house edge figures come from?

Table-game edges follow from the rules (e.g. 1/37 for European roulette). Slot, betting and lottery figures are typical illustrative values — check the published RTP or margin for any specific product.
