Self-exclusion in Argentina

Self-exclusion in Argentina is handled province by province. Provincial lottery institutes run voluntary self-exclusion programmes for casinos and bingo halls, and the provinces that license online gambling require operators to apply their exclusion lists and offer account-level self-exclusion. Some provinces share data: Buenos Aires and Santa Fe agreed in 2016 to cross-check their casino exclusion registers. An exclusion in one province does not automatically apply elsewhere, and none of these schemes reaches the large illegal online market. A national voluntary self-exclusion programme has been proposed in Congress but was not law as of October 2026.

The steps

  1. 1

    Identify the jurisdiction

Work out which province or city licenses the venues and sites you use; licensed sites display the regulator's name, such as IPLyC for Buenos Aires Province or LOTBA for Buenos Aires City.

  2. 2

    Contact the provincial programme

Approach the lottery institute's responsible gaming or compulsive gambling programme, or the security desk of a licensed casino, which can provide the self-exclusion form.

  3. 3

    Bring your DNI

You will need your national identity document (DNI). In-person enrolment usually includes a photograph and signature.

  4. 4

    Choose the term and sign

Terms are set by each province and are often for a fixed minimum period or indefinite. Read the conditions on reinstatement before signing.

  5. 5

    Exclude from online accounts too

Use the self-exclusion option in each licensed online account, or contact support in writing, as provincial casino lists and online accounts may be handled separately.

  6. 6

    Block the illegal market

Install blocking software, ask your bank or digital wallet whether it can restrict gambling payments, and set parental controls on young people's devices.

  7. 7

    Get support

Call SEDRONAR on 141 or your provincial programme for free counselling, and consider a Jugadores Anรณnimos meeting.

Before you start โ€” what to know

  • Coverage stops at provincial borders unless provinces have agreed to share registers.
  • Illegal online sites, which target many young Argentines, are not bound by any exclusion.
  • Revocation rules differ by province; some require an interview or a minimum period first.
  • Families concerned about a minor betting online should use device controls and talk to the school; see our guide for young people.
  • Check the current rules with your provincial lottery institute, as programmes are being updated.

Frequently asked questions

Is online gambling legal in Argentina?

It depends on the province. Buenos Aires Province, Buenos Aires City and several other provinces license online gambling; elsewhere it may be unregulated or offered only by the provincial lottery.

Is there a national self-exclusion register?

No. Self-exclusion is run by each province. A national programme has been proposed in Congress but not enacted.

Is there a national law on online betting?

Not yet. The Chamber of Deputies passed a bill in 2024 and the government filed its own bill in 2026, but as of October 2026 neither had become law.

What is the legal gambling age?

18 in licensed venues and sites, with identity checks required by provincial regulators.

Procedures can change. Always follow the instructions of the official scheme or regulator. We2Bet is not affiliated with any self-exclusion scheme. Last reviewed October 2026.
