Self-exclusion in Finland
Finland does not yet have a national self-exclusion register. Until the licensed market opens, the only legal provider of online gambling is Veikkaus, and self-exclusion is done in your Veikkaus account. Because all Veikkaus play requires identification, its exclusion blocks you from all of its games, online and in venues where identified play applies. The new Gambling Act provides for a central gambling exclusion register that will let players block themselves from every licensed operator at once; details and a start date had not been published by October 2026. Foreign sites operating without Finnish permission do not respect Veikkaus exclusions, so bank and device blocks remain important.

The steps

Log in to your Veikkaus account
Sign in with your online banking credentials or mobile certificate. All Veikkaus play is identified, so the exclusion links to your personal identity.

Find the gambling ban option
In the account's responsible gaming settings, choose to ban yourself from all games or from specific game types such as online casino or betting.

Choose the length
Select the period offered, from short breaks to longer or indefinite exclusions. Pick a length that covers the risk; Veikkaus applies it to identified play.

Set limits as well
Review loss and time limits in the same settings. Limits help if you are not ready for a full exclusion, but they are not a substitute for one.

Block foreign sites
Install blocking software and ask your bank whether it can block gambling payments, because unlicensed foreign sites do not check Veikkaus exclusions.
