Step-by-step manual
Self-exclusion in Peru
Peru's Law 31557 created a national Registry of Persons Prohibited from Remote Gaming and Sports Betting, run by MINCETUR. Registration is free, needs no reason and is tied to your DNI, so it applies to every authorised online casino and betting platform, not just one account. Operators must block any account linked to your identity, including new accounts opened with different contact details. Letting a registered person bet is an administrative infraction. A separate, older registry covers land-based casinos and slot halls. Neither reaches illegal sites, so blocking tools remain useful.

The steps
- 1
Prepare your DNI
Registration is linked to your national identity document (DNI) or, for foreigners, an immigration card or passport. No lawyer or representative is needed.
- 2
Submit a request to MINCETUR
File the self-exclusion request with MINCETUR using its model application form, through the ministry's channels for remote gaming procedures. The procedure is free and you do not have to explain why.
- 3
Choose the period
State the length of exclusion you want. Registration periods are generally long; check the options and conditions on the form before signing.
- 4
Wait for confirmation
MINCETUR records your details and shares them with authorised operators, which must block betting on any account linked to your identity.
- 5
Withdraw remaining balances
You can generally withdraw funds deposited before registration; further betting is blocked. Ask operators to stop marketing to you.
- 6
Cover land-based venues and illegal sites
Apply separately to the land-based casino and slot hall registry if needed, install blocking software and ask your bank about gambling payment blocks.
- 7
Know how to complain
If an authorised operator lets you bet after registration, keep evidence and complain to the operator and to MINCETUR; losses after registration may be recoverable.
Before you start โ what to know
- The remote registry covers all MINCETUR-authorised online casinos and betting platforms.
- Land-based casinos and slot halls use a separate registry under their own rules.
- Leaving the registry is not immediate and requires a separate procedure.
- Illegal sites are not bound by the registry; MINCETUR publishes a list of authorised platforms.
- Self-exclusion works best alongside support from Lรญnea 113 or a community mental health centre.
